PERSPECTIVES ON SELF-ORGANIZATION
An Advanced Training w/ Jeff Haller

Fri - Sun, June 6 - 8, 2008

During his San Francisco training program, Dr. Feldenkrais demonstrated how he could lift a person's head without changing the muscular tonus in his arms. The question is: Can you?

The quality of our touch and ability to move our students in FI is determined by our own bio-mechanical self-use and efficiency. This workshop will examine how we can work around the table with greatest ease, enabling us to work in FI with increased sensitivity and effectiveness. The principles we learn in ATM help us become efficient and effective, and can be directly applied to our work around the table in FI. How do we bring lessons from the floor into action?

What you learn in this course will apply directly to working with people in various aspects of daily life such as athletic performance, martial arts, playing music, dance and walking.

Jeff HallerJeff Haller, Jeff Haller, Ph.D., graduated from the Amherst Training in 1983. He has been a Trainer since 1993, and has directed eight Feldenkrais Teacher Training Programs in addition to extensive work internationally. His background is in athletics and martial arts, and he has worked with a meditation teacher for over 15 years. Jeff creates the environment for his students to think for themselves and act based on their clear differentiated experience.

STANDING ON YOUR OWN TWO FEET
with Carl Ginsburg & Lucia Schuette-Ginsburg

Fri - Mon, Aug 8 - 11, 2008

Feetx4How do we balance in gravity on such small feet and how does the structure and functioning of our feet influence the rest of ourselves above? Equally how do the head and the weight distribution in standing and walking influence how the feet are organized? In this upward – downward set of relations we can discover pathways to improving our dynamic responses to gravity. We will explore these questions through FI and ATM processes as well as explorations of skeletal structures and connections, and show how all this connects to an underlying neurological activity. Lessons will include pressing the foot on a wall, exploring C7 in relation to the feet, standing on a roller in ATM and FI modalities. To stand on our own feet in gravity is complex, yet through integrating awareness and intention with the dynamic reflexive activity available to us, we can improve ourselves and guide others to also learn.

Carl Ginsburg, Ph.D., studied with Dr. Feldenkrais in his first US training program in San Francisco from 1975 to 1978.he is the editor of Dr. Feldenkrais' book, "The Master Moves' and has written extensively about the Feldenkrais Method, with his most recent article in the Journal of Consciousness Studies. Carl has worked in depth with individuals with neurological injuries, and a has directed Feldenkrais trainings in Rome, Montreal, Vienna, Santa Fe, Heidelberg, and England. He is finishing a book, The Intelligence of Moving Bodies, connecting biological dynamics to the thinking of Moshe Feldenkrais. He lives in Bad Soden, Germany.

Lucia Shcuette-Ginsburg originally trained with Mia segal in Holland, and studied extensively with Gaby Yaron. She has worked in training workshops for many years and recently completed her application to become a Trainer. She has worked extensively with children as a special education teacher and in her Feldenkrais practice. Lucia lives in Bad Soden, Germany.
